weekend I encourage you to forward this message to as many of your friends as
possible.

The New Age Citizen Website
The New Age Citizen website has undergone another update and offers a lot of
information and activist tools for those interested Re-Legalizing Marijuana
through PRA:
What is PRA:
Between now and the October 2001 most of our efforts will be directed towards
the Personal Responsibility Amendment (PRA) in the State of Michigan. By
collecting 302,711 valid signatures PRA will be placed on the November 2002
ballot. If over 50% of the voters say, "YES" to PRA each Michigan adult will be
allowed to legally possess 3 ounces of Cannabis and 3 plants. If you are living
in Michigan I encourage you to get involved immediately. If PRA succeeds it
will be the first statewide initiative to allow personal use by adults over the
age of 21.
Lets make Michigan the first state to say "NO" to a Drug War that is
increasingly eroding our freedoms as Americans!!!
Why we need YOUR help now!
As of Thursday, July 26th, 2001 we have but 69 days before the PRA Petition
Deadline. Since petitions need to be in the mail to PRA headquarters, no later
that 5 days prior to that deadline, it really only gives us 64 days for us to
collect the remaining 300,000 signatures. This means we need to be collecting,
on average, 4,000 signatures/day, throughout the state of Michigan.
In order to facilitate this enormous task we need to keep activists, the media
and other interested parties constantly updated on where we will be collecting
signatures and other breaking news concerning the PRA petition drive. More
importantly we need those who support PRA to get off their butts, roll up their
sleeves and help us collect these signatures.
Petitioning Events for this Weekend (07/27-07/29)
I think most of the Wayne PRA contingent will be at Hart Plaza on Sat/Sunday.
Some activists have also commited to doing 4th Street on Saturday and I have
heard that the Hydoplane Race may offer another very large crowd.
Here is what I have consolidated from various calendars for the next 2 weekends.
This should help activists find somewhere to petition all over the state.

No Signature Update from Gregg:
As the following dialogue confirms we still don't have a updated count. The
discussion underlines the frustration and uncertainty of knowing exactly where
we are. But when you consider that Gregg didn't have the latest batches from
around the state last weekend I have to believe we are close to 180,000. But
with only 69 days left, a little over one third of the original 180 days, there
is no time to loose in order to reach the 33% overage figure of 450,000
signitures. It is imperitive that every Marijuana activist get involved now!
Roll up your sleeves and man the clip boards!!!
Gregg Schmidt:
Well it is a double edged sword-once people see the momentum is there they
often, as not, lose their sense of urgency. It is a no win situation... but I
still haven't counted again and can only say we are over half way, and
that as always the end result hinges on how many are being held onto by
people out there who are reluctant to turn their petitions in till they are
filled. This always happens, and it is a constant source of anxiety till
the end.
Professor Hemp:
I know you appreciate my persistance in this matter even though you may
disagree. I am really looking for a number that you feel comfortable with
and I will certainly add any spin or qualification you would like to add to
the number. But when you state "halfway there" do you mean to 303,000,
400,000(25%) or 450,000(33%).
Gregg Schmidt:
Half way to 303,000. But as you know this is futile because I know their are
petitions in the bushes
