The Other
WMD’s: Weapons of Middle Class Destruction
Terrorism – The systematic use of terror esp. as a means of coercion.
Terror – Violence (as bomb throwing) committed by groups in order to
intimidate a population or gov’t into granting their demands.
Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary
There are really two main terrorist factions that threaten the present and
future welfare of the people living on our planet. But you only seem to
hear about one of them. The first groups of terrorists have become daily
news since the World Trade Center (WTC) was destroyed on September 11,
2001. Their favorite tools are Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD’s).
Included in their WMD arsenal are things like: airliners, suicide bombers,
biological, chemical and nuclear weapons.
President Bush can’t get through a single speech without making reference
to “911” and the eminent threat that these terrorists pose to the future
and safety of America. And given the fact that no president has lost more
jobs since Herbert Hoover (e.g., The Great Depression c. 1929) it is
becoming clear that his next term in office is almost completely dependant
on keeping terrorism as the main focus of public debate. Of course what
Bush likes to downplay is the fact that his family is incestuously
involved with companies within the Military Industrial Complex, which have
supplied these terrorist groups and “Axis of Evil” Nations (e.g., Iraq and
Pakistan) with the very WMD’s that now threaten America.
The second terrorist group is still quite invisible to the American
public, but they also have their own arsenal of WMD’s. These terrorists
are composed of a shortsighted elite that basically owns & controls
government, business and the media. In fact the reason we don’t hear about
them is because they basically own and control the entire media
infrastructure (e.g., television, radio and printed news). Their favorite
tools are a different form of WMD – Weapons of Middle Class Destruction.
Included in their WMD arsenal are things like (1) Off shoring American
Jobs to offset the stock losses of large Multinational corporations, (2)
Revoking overtime pay for over 8 million American workers, (3) Imposing
tax breaks for the rich and regressive tax structure for everyone else,
(4) Destroying Medicare and Social Security through privatization, (5)
Encouraging a “Wall Mart Job Standard” where American workers make a near
poverty wage while they are increasingly unable to afford health coverage
or save toward retirement. And unfortunately these WMD’s are all fully
supported by President Bush.
While these two terrorist groups are worlds apart, they do share common
attributes. The first group of terrorist generally pose as Islamic
extremists in order to gain power, wealth and control. The second group of
terrorist generally pose as patriotic Americans who engage in idol worship
of the American flag. But their motivation is the same as the first group
of terrorists – to gain power, wealth and control. It should also be
mentioned that both terrorist groups are completely disingenuous: the
first group don’t really care about Muslims or the Koran and the second
group don’t really care about Americans or the Constitution (upon which
this republic is based). It seems the goal of both groups is to die with
the most toys – with total disregard for the cost to their own people.
The only hope we have, to insure that future generation make it to the
next millennium, is to expose and defeat both of these terrorist groups.
But that is just a start. We need to leverage our entire legacy of
knowledge in order to carefully divine a path to a compassionate and
sustainable future. It’s either that or another world war. What we don’t
need is more “Stupid, Elitist Leadership in times of change.”
