Demand that Obama Re-Legalize Marijuana and Withdraw from Afghanistan Immediately

Legalize untaxed, unregulated "Marijuana Self Cultivation" for all adult American Citizens
********************************
Saturday November 21st, 2009
Dearborn, Michigan
On the Front Steps of City Hall
Michigan Avenue and Schaeffer
Begins at 3:00 PM
********************************
Demand that Obama Implement MERP immediately as a matter of National Security.  This is the only policy that is guaranteed to destroy the Mexican Drug Cartels immediately: and without another dime of American "Blood or Treasure" wasted on this senseless War on Marijuana Consumers.  It might just transform the US Economy.

=======================================
This article describes a Protest to take place in Dearborn, Michigan.  The protest demands that President Obama completely Re-Legalize the unlimited, untaxed, unregulated self cultivation of Marijuana by all adults over the age of 18.  It is supported by a majority of Americans and will not cost the American taxpayer a single dime.  It calls for Obama to convene a Special Session of Congress to immediately Re-Legalize Marijuana under the MERP Model.  This will immediately put an end to the Mexican Drug Cartels and will also pave the way for a Renaissance in the Agricultural and Industrial products that can be made with hemp.
=======================================

Introduction

Bruce Cain, Editor of New Age Citizen (www.NewAgeCitizen.com) is calling for a protest to completely Re-Legalize the "Self Cultivation" of Marijuana by all adult American Citizens.  It will take place on November 21st, 2009, on the steps of City Hall in Dearborn, Michigan at 3:00 PM.  He had originally hoped for multiple events across the country but there simply is not enough time to coordinate that before the 11/21/2009 protest date.

Cain wants to force Obama to immediately Re-Legalize Marijuana under the MERP Model.  Cain's MERP Model basically forces the destruction of the Marijuana "black market" by legalizing unlimited, untaxed, unregulated "self cultivation" by all adults over the age of 18.  By doing this three National Security goals would be achieved immediately:

(1) The Mexican Drug Cartels would go out of business
(2) The Sick and the Poor would be able to grow their own medicine for free
(3) Law enforcement would no longer be able to violate our privacy rights by busting into our homes looking for Marijuana plants and paraphernalia.

The benefits of legalizing the unlimited, untaxed, unregulated would occur immediately after we force a Special Session of Congress to "Legalize It" just like they forced us to accept the TARP bailout which was rejected by 80% of American Citizens.   But, in this case Marijuana Legalization is supported by at least 52% of American Citizens and, as a matter of National Security, it needs to be implemented immediately.

Cain does not want to allow Obama to "Just Say No" to the American People on the issue of Marijuana Legalization.  He believes that the benefits are simply too great to ignore, now that a majority of Americans finally support Marijuana Legalization.

He cites two reasons for holding this protest in Dearborn.  First of all Henry Ford actually grew Marijuana in Dearborn in the late 1930's and produced the first "plastic car body" from the Marijuana plant in 1941.

Car Made From Marijuana Fiber - By Henry Ford
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBVwyQra4hk

Secondly it was a Dearborn Police officer that stole Marijuana from an evidence locker a few years ago, resulting in one of the most popular YouTube videos ever.  The video captures the officer calling "911" because he thought he was overdosing on some "brownies" that he made with the stolen "weed."  Fortunately the officer was fine, however, he was understandably relieved of his job as a Dearborn Police officer.

Police Officer steals Marijuana
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnZb5wi_jsU

Though Cain has immense respect for legitimate police enforcement he notes that such stories, of officers getting tempted by the "evil weed," are far too common.  And once legal they won't have to sneak around ripping off the evidence locker.  They would simply be able to "grow their own" just like everyone else.

Cain believes that the real reason that Marijuana remains illegal is not because it is dangerous.  Instead he cites all of the profits that attorneys, drug testing labs, police departments etc. make off of its continued prohibition.  For instance police departments bring in over 1.2 Billion dollars annually just by forfeiting the property of non-violent drug consumers.  And it is also certain that attorneys make tens of billions each year from representing the 850,000 Marijuana consumers that get busted each year in the United States.  Since 1965 over 20 Million Americans have been arrested for Marijuana possession alone.  He is also highly suspicious that Obama wants to eventually monopolize the cultivation of Marijuana by forcing consumers to spend $300 to $500 an ounce when they would be better off growing it themselves for free.  By treating Marijuana as an inalienable, sacred right -- protected from any form of limitation, taxation or regulation -- Cain believes that commercial production would be self regulated.  The moment the government gets too greedy, adult Americans could always simply turn on the lights and "grow their own" for as little as $20 and ounce.  Cain says this is exactly the way "free markets" were intended to work by our founding fathers.

Although Cain has already learned of a dozen people that will attend the event he doesn't want to take any chances.  He has prepared mini-flyers that individuals can distribute across college campuses, bars and other public places to spread the word about the event during the next few weeks.  They can be printed off on any home computer by following the simple instructions at this link:

http://www.newagecitizen.com/MERP/MerpFlyers.htm

He has also prepared numerous articles and videos about his model for Marijuana Legalization: know as the MERP Model.  These can be easily accessed through the following link:

MERP Headquarters
The Marijuana Re-Legalization Policy Project (MRPP) = "MERP"
http://www.newagecitizen.com/MERP.htm

The following links contain up to date information on the events as well as additional ways that American Citizens can help promote the event during the next few weeks:

Suggestion on sign making and promoting the event
http://www.newagecitizen.com/MERP/RelegalizeNowObama25.htm

One final thing that Cain wanted to make crystal clear for those attending the protest.  He does not suggest that anyone actually smoke Marijuana at the protest as it is still illegal.  "If you feel so strongly about committing such an act of civil disobedience that is certainly your right.  But odds are you will end up getting busted and paying a hefty fine for the privilege.  Better to smoke discretely until we prevail in the implementation of the MERP Model: and Marijuana becomes legal for all adults."

Finally, this demonstration will be the beginning of a petition drive to compel President Obama to fully legalize Marijuana consumption and cultivation under the framework of the MERP Model.  Here is the wording of the petition:

Petition for the Immediate Re-Legalization of Marijuana by implementing MERP through a Special Joint Session of Congress:

We the undersigned demand that President Obama immediately implement he MERP Model for Marijuana Re-Legalization through a special emergency “joint” session of Congress. This is the same approach that was used to pass the TARP Bailout on 10/03/2008: a bill that was opposed by over 80% of the American People and which only benefited the very same “banksters” that have destroyed the US economy. According to a recent Zogby Poll Marijuana Re-Legalization is now supported by 52% of the American people and is expected to grow by at least 1% each year. The MERP model basically treats the unlimited, untaxed, unregulated “self cultivation” of Marijuana as a sacred, inalienable right. By implementing MERP three important goals would immediately be achieved without any expenditure of American “blood or treasure.” It would (1) destroy the Mexican Drug Cartels; (2) allow access to free medicine by the sick and the poor, and (3) will immediately stop any further home invasions by law enforcement. It will also unleash the Agricultural and Industrial products that can be made from Cannabis (e.g., Hemp). Note that a street address is optional as long as you provide an email address. The purpose of this petition is to send a message to Obama and alert the activist community about upcoming events to end Marijuana Prohibition by implementing the MERP Model. Personal information will not be shared with any 3rd parties. More info on MERP at: www.newagecitizen.com

Activists, throughout the United States, are encouraged to print out copies of this petition, by clicking here,  and send the completed forms into New Age Citizen so that they can be forwarded to President Obama.

A Guide For Those Planning Events

What follows is a guide for all of those thinking of planning a small local protest on 11/21/2009.  Don't hesitate just because you have never done anything like this before.  If you can just get a dozen of your friends to show up that is sufficient to get an article in the local paper.  And this is just the first of many events to insist that Marijuana is legalized under the MERP Model.

Getting the word out:

Given the short timeframe getting the word out will involve 2 activities:

(1) "Viral Distribution" on and off the Internet
(2) Sending out Press Releases to the Local Media

* Send the link to this article virally across the internet by posting it on websites, sending it to discussion groups, FaceBook, MySpace etc.

First National Protest To Re-Legalize Marijuana (11/21/2009)
http://www.newagecitizen.com/MERP/RelegalizeNowObama25.htm

* Send the following link to all of your FaceBook Friends:

If you are on Facebook please go to the link above and click on the "Invite Friends" link and send to all of your FaceBook friends. You can also discuss and strategize by clicking on the "Discussion Board" link.

* Print out and distribute Mini-flyers for the by following the instructions below:

For more information on attending or planning an event:

http://www.newagecitizen.com/MERP/RelegalizeNowObama25.htm

While these are best printed on a color printer they can also be effectively printed on "black and white" printers.  Here is the basic process:

(1) Click on the following link:

http://www.newagecitizen.com/MERPProtestDbrn11212009.pdf

(2) This will bring up the document as an web page in Adobe Acrobat.

(3) Click on "File" and the "Print"
This should bring up the print menu for your specific printer.  If you have a "black and white" printer you will want to only print out single pages until you get a page to print out correctly.  Sometimes "black and white" printers will print colors as a big black blob.  To get around this go to the "Options" and select "Print Color as Black."  That usually solves the problem.  You will also want to only select the printing of the first page as the second page will just be a blank piece of paper.

(4) Once you print these out you will need to cut out the individual flyers.  I usually use a razor blade and a metal straight edge to cut a few pages up at one time.  Scissors also work.  But do be careful.

* Sending out a Press Release

Press Releases should ideally be sent out weekly in the month before the event. Here is a template which can be modified for your specific event location;

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

First National Protest To Re-Legalize Marijuana "Self Cultivation" (11/21/2009)
Time: 3:00 PM
Location: Dearborn, Michigan in front of Dearborn City Hall at Michigan Ave and Schaeffer

Event information:

We are demanding that President Obama Immediately Legalize the untaxed, unregulated "Self Cultivation" of Marijuana by Adult Americans over the age of 18.  The event will take place at 3:00 PM on Saturday November 21st, 2009.

We are demanding that Obama Implement MERP immediately as a matter of National Security. This is the only policy that is guaranteed to destroy the Mexican Drug Cartels immediately and without another dime of American "Blood or Treasure" wasted on this senseless War on Marijuana Consumers. We believe that this change in policy might just transform the US Economy.  We also believe that all of the media attempts to manufacture consent for a "Government Marijuana Dispensary" system are merely attempts to replace Marijuana Prohibition with a Government Monopoly.

Organizing Protests:

* It must be understood that these are to be peaceful assemblies intended to attract both Marijuana Consumers and Non-Consumers alike.

* While you can assemble any where you wish, the focus should be on Police Stations, Court Houses and Federal Buildings.  You should communicate with these establishments to let them know about the protest and learn where you will be allowed to assemble.  You should pick locations that are visible to the most people traffic and you should send out a brief press release out to the local media at least 10 days before the event.

* All events should begin at "high noon."

* Once you have arranged a location for your event make sure you send the required information to the following email address with "11/21/09 Pot Protest" in the subject line.

Attending Protests

In the next week I will update this page with a link to all of the planned events in State/City order.   So people that are interested in attending should visit this webpage often to see where the closest protest will be for them to attend.

Attendees should come in peace.  No swearing at the police etc.  Also be aware that it is not uncommon for government "plants" to infiltrate such events in an attempt to precipitate violence.  Do not fall for that.

Attendees should make signs with appropriate messages such as:

"Obama: Unlimited, Untaxed, Unregulated Marijuana Self Cultivation NOW!"

"Re-Legalize Now Obama"

"We Want a Joint Session of Congress So We Can All Smoke a Joint"

"Joint" Session of Congress Now Obama

What Else You Can Do to Help Re-Legalize Marijuana for all Adult Americans

Regardless of whether you consume Marijuana I encourage all that agree with this article to get on my mailing list so that I can keep you up to date on the progress of the MERP strategy to make "self cultivation" a right of all American Citizens.  You can sign up for the mailing list for free at the following link:

In addition I encourage you to visit MERP Headquarters in order to educate yourself about what is really going on in the Marijuana Legalization movement.  I can assure you that what you will watch and read there is not being covered by the Mainstream Media.

The Dearborn Michigan Protest: Planning Notes

It has been many years since I have planned such an event.  I have concerns that the mainstream media will make every attempt to thwart our attempts to promote this event.  So I am providing the following diary to document my attempts to promote the event: both as a way of documenting the process as well as to serve as a guide for others that may consider planning additional events on 11/21/2009

(11/06/2009)

(1) Metro Times (MT) to do a story prior to the event. is a major entertainment magazine for the Detroit/Metro area so this is a main focus for promoting the Dearborn event.  I contacted MT's Managing Editor today in hopes of getting MT interested in doing a story prior to the event.  I had also left a message with Brian Smith on 11/01/2009 which was never returned.

* I successfully place the event through MT's "self publishing" Active Server Page.  The submission was successful.

http://www.metrotimes.com/selfpublish/events.aspx

* I also successfully submitted the event throught the "listing" link at this page:

http://www.metrotimes.com/about/editorial.asp

(2) I contacted the head of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP) in order to get a LEAP speaker and to encourage LEAP to promote the event:

Jack A. Cole Executive Director (781) 393-6985
http://www.leap.cc/cms/index.php?name=Contact

(3) I sent a email to the following list which includes the heads of Michigan NORML, Peter Wirbe (WRIF Talk Show), CNN's Lou Dobbs and other National Media contacts:

Please help me get the word out on this event.

I am holding a Protest for Marijuana Self Cultivation at the Dearborn City Hall on 11/21/2009 at 3:00 PM and would appreciate your involvement in promoting, attending and speaking at the event. I would extend this to all NORML Chapters, and other Drug Reform groups throughout Michigan. Obama: "$77 Billion A Year From Hemp Won't Help Economy!"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jASjTJ8ttg

* 44 Billion saved by not spending for Police Arrests, Judges, Attorneys, Court Costs etc. for trails, prison guards, prisons etc. for incarcerations.
* 27 Billion saved by keeping the money that Mexican Drug Cartels send back to Mexico each year.  Instead the money would stay in the United States creating jobs and generating revenue without the need for taxation or regulation.
* I think this Harvard Economics Professor is absolutely wrong in attempting to generate anything from "tax and regulation."  It cost to much to administrate and would only make it more difficult for the sick to obtain what should be a "universally free medicine" should they decide to simply "grow their own."
